Stampin Up open day at Kirri's

9/9/2012

This post and the card below leads on from the previous post, the card was the colour challenge Kirri devised for us all to do. Kirri gave us all some pieces of of card stock all from the new colour range for 2012 -2014 and a piece of the DP out of the new catalogue as well. Kirri had a number of new stamp sets for us to use and some ribbon. The card below is what I came up with in a very short period of time. I had to leave early as we were having to do the grocery shopping. The greeting is a ring in from the SU "Happiest Birthday Wishes" set.
The Stampin Up year is going to be shorter this year as it will run from September 1st 2012 to June 30th 2013. This is to bring Australia in line with America so that we will have our new catalogue releases at the same time.
If you would like a catalogue or any of the wonderful Stampin Up product you can contact Kirri on 0412 986 500
Cheers
Marg

Hi, this is a card created for the family of one of my departments staff who passed away last week after a five month battle with cancer. One never knows what's around the corner.
Sonia's favorit colours were red, black and purple hence the reason for the colour scheme.
It is an easy card with mainly layering/matting and a bit of heat embossing.
I got the insperation from Bekey Roberts on Inking Idaho (one very talented lady) http://inkingidaho.blogspot.com/2010/07/bff-gifts.html
What have I Used
Card: SU Whisper White, Very Vanilla, Ridding Hood Red, Elegant Eggplant and then some silver gloss and soem DP from a large pad of glitter paper bought at "Big W"
Ink: Versamark embossing ink and Silver embossing powder
Stamps: SU Close As a Memory
Embelishments: SU 1- 1/4 Gros-Grain ribbon Ridding Hood Red

This is my very first blog so please excuse any mistakes or weired stuff I will get better as I go along. My biggest worry at this point is that this blogging thing is going to become as addictive as my card making.
The card I have chosen to upload first is probably one of my favorit colour combos at the moment (they change) and is Taken with Teal and Close to Cocoa all from Stampin Up. I also used Stampin Up ink pads and markers to stamp the background layers, again Close to Cocoa and Taken with Teal. I also used a little of the Elegant Eggplant for the eye of the feather. All of the stamping was done on Whisper White again from Stampin Up. I really like this card stoke it is so good to work with.
The stamp set is out of the Stampin Up Summer Mini Catalogue. Sorry not available at the moment but it might be in their new Ideas Book  who knows.
Now here comes the exciting bit, the nest and eggs were coloured with Copic, "O" Copic I looove you, yes well you will hear a lot more about copic from me as time goes on and I get better at it. The greating was stamped in Taken with Teal and then over stamped with versamark and clear embossing powder added and heat embossed the greating is one of the free stamps from the Wimsical Words Set  of Stampin Up's Sale-a-bration sets.
Hope you have enjoyed the read Marg
