This card is for a number of challenges this week not least of all the MOJO533 challenge.
I chose the colours based on the designer paper used for the background.
This paper is one of my mum-in-law's favorites and as this is gong to be her 97th birthday card her favorites should be paramount.
I've used SU colours to compliment the DP these being; Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and River Rock. I love River Rock as a neutral colour, It's a shame it's retired however I made sure I had plenty in stock lol.
The sketch was the perfect layout to showcase the Wednesday Tutorial Chalk Board Marker Magic over at Split Cost Stampers.
One of my favorite techniques is heat embossing and this is closely followed by Copic colouring so when you have a technique that combines them both I'm hooked.
This is a very simple technique using solid stamped images using white embossing powder and then going over the embossed image with Copic markers to add colour and definition. I found that the markers behaved completely differently on the none porous embossed surface allowing lots of time to blend and reacting more like wet on wet watercolor, very cool.
For the SCS Ways To Use It challenge this week it was your favorite tools. Well any tools needed for heat embossing and colouring really, however I was more specific in my gallery here
To give the card more interest I ran an SU Jumbo wheel - Watercolor Vines across the Old Olive card with Old Olive ink and dry embossed the River Rock card with a Cuttlebug embossing folder - 37-1231 Stylized Flowers.
I matted / layered each element with Cherry Cobbler card except the focal circle which is matted with Old Olive.
The ribbon is just scraps I had in my scrap box and is actually two kinds one on top of the other.
